Riverview Families,
I want to address an important issue: the safety of our students especially in light of yesterday's incident in Kenosha. The communication we received from the Kenosha Sheriff's department and our area school resource officer was swift, and specific. This communication said that there was a possible suspect trying to enter a Kenosha school; our admin team immediately responded by putting our school into secure hold as a precautionary measure which allows instruction to continue as usual but doesn't allow anyone in or out of the building. We continued this hold until police alerted us that we were clear. Kenosha Sheriff's department did send a police presence to all county schools as an added precaution. I want to thank all involved for following protocol and creating an environment that was safe.
Ensuring a secure environment is our top priority and a serious responsibility. We are constantly reviewing and enhancing our safety policies to meet the ever-evolving landscape of school safety. This includes implementing additional safety training for our staff, reinforcing effective protocols, and engaging in meaningful conversations with our students about safety. We follow ALICE protocols (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate), which provide a comprehensive framework for responding to potential threats. To help you better understand these protocols, we have added a link to an informative presentation about ALICE on our website for families to view.
Your partnership is crucial in this effort, and we, as always, encourage you to talk with your children about safety and remind them they can always reach out to a trusted adult.
Thank you for your unwavering support. Together, we can create a safer community for our children.

Please Take Our Survey
The community-wide survey was mailed to all district residents on November 7 and will remain open until November 25. The District plans to use the survey responses to help identify community priorities and specifically what projects, if any, would be supported by taxpayers.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey online. Paper surveys can be returned to any school district office or mailed to School Perceptions, the independent education research firm that will analyze the survey data. The survey code can only be used once. To obtain more surveys for other adults in a household, please contact Kim Taylor at ktaylor@silverlakejt1.k12.wi.us.
Results will be shared at the December 12 Board of Education meeting. The Board of Education will continue planning for facility improvements depending on survey results.
Join us at the Community Information Meeting planned to present more information on November 19, 2024, at 6 p.m.
Residents who would like to learn more about the facility study, the plans presented in the survey, or have other questions are invited to attend the community information night.

Dear Families,
As you may be aware, there is an ongoing search in Kenosha for a man who tried to enter Roosevelt Elementary School late this morning. There is no indication that the intruder poses any threat to any schools in the county. While there is no threat, our administration made the decision to keep all students in the building throughout the day. The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department has increased presence at all schools in the area as a precautionary measure.
We appreciate the vigilance of the Kenosha Sheriff's Department and if anything changes, we will send another update.
If you have any questions please reach out to Riverview Administration.
