The Silver Lake Salem School District is expanding its programming options to include ALL students in grades 5-8 that are residents of the district, regardless of their enrollment status.

Any Silver Lake Salem school district resident in grades 5-8 would be eligible to participate in the same sports/clubs that are offered to Riverview Students at the same grade level.

Cross Country
Season: Fall (September-October)

Open to: Students in 5th-8th Grade

About: Cross Country is a 100% participation sport, meaning everyone runs.  In Cross Country students run a mile and a half on grass/trails, and compete in 4 to 5 meets throughout the season, and end with a conference meet at Wheatland.

Softball
Season: Fall (September-Early October)

Open to: Students in 6th-8th Grade

About: Whether you are just starting out, or been playing for years, all our welcome to join! Both boys and girls teams play slow pitch/high arc softball. Learn and develop your throwing, catching, hitting, and baserunning skills while working as a team, learning plays/strategies, and having fun.

Basketball
Season: Late Fall/Winter
Boys Season: October-December

Open to: Students in 6th-8th Grade

About: Learn and improve on the fundamentals of basketball (dribble, shoot, pass, defense),  as part of the school team. The season consist of playing all the conference schools, and at the Comet Classic Tournament.

Cheerleading
Season: Late Fall/Winter
Cheer during boys basketball: October-December

About: Whether you're a seasoned cheerleader or new to the sport, our program is a fantastic way to build confidence, teamwork, and school spirit.
In Fall, learn sideline cheers and chants to pump up the crowd and support our teams.
In Winter continue building your skills and cheering on our winter sports teams.

Competitive Cheerleading
Season: Winter (December-February)

Open to: Students in 5th-8th Grade

About: Love to cheer? Looking for a bigger challenge? This season involves a greater time commitment and focuses on perfecting a routine to perform at a local competition. It's a great way to push your limits and show off your hard work!

Volleyball
Season: Late Winter (February-March)

Open to: Students in 6th-8th Grade

About: Students in grades 6th-8th meet and practice after school. Students compete against other schools from the WAC Conference.

Track
Season: Spring (April-May)

Open to: Students in 6th-8th Grade

About: Students are able participate in a variety of events, all of which take place on a track, including sprints, relays, and distance running; as well as the shot put, discus, long jump, and high jump.
