Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

Riverview School Board Considering Approval of a Comprehensive Facility Improvement Program with No Increase in Taxes

The Riverview school board and administration are considering the implementation of a comprehensive building improvement program to address a wide range of long-standing facility needs.  These critical upgrades will collectively result in a higher quality learning environment for students, improved building comfort, and increased building security for children and teachers, and yet reduce energy consumption and result in no increase in taxes.  The board approved a conditional plan of the $7.2 million project at its regular Board of Education meeting on January 27, 2014.

“Riverview School is a centerpiece of the Silver Lake community, and we’ve simply reached a point where putting off these crucial, infrastructural improvements would only make it more expensive down the road,” said John Gendron, District Administrator. “Implementing the program now will enable us to take advantage of low interest rates and constructions costs, so that we can make these improvements with no increase in taxes. We believe that the plan addresses student and staff safety and improves the learning environment for our students.  We would like to share details of our plan with the public at our Community Forum which will be held at Riverview School on Monday, February 3 at 7:00 PM.”
