Dear Riverview Families,
I want to thank everyone who responded to our recent survey regarding the possibility of either ending the school year early or starting the 2015-16 school year later to help facilitate the completion of this summer’s construction projects. The responses provide the district with valuable feedback as we move toward the Summer of 2015.
We had 399 survey responses (340 via the school website and another 59 paper copies) which will assist our Board as we consider scheduling options. A total of 87% of respondents indicated they would be supportive of an early end of the school year (as early as May 29th), and 61% indicated they would be supportive of a later start to the 2015-16 school year (possibly September 8th).
A third question asked if the district 4K program families would be comfortable adding additional instruction days on Mondays to assist with the meeting of required instructional minutes. Only 3% indicated they would not be in favor of such a change, with 21% being in favor and 74% indicating no opinion on the item.
Also, we will not be able to hold summer school at Riverview in 2015. Riverview has been working with Wilmot High School as a location for its 2015 summer school and information will be provided in the coming weeks regarding this opportunity.
There are several items that are impacted by a potential decision to modify the calendar and we would like to make this decision soon to provide time for any needed adjustments.. The Silver Lake Jt. #1 School Board will look to address these topics at its November 24, 2014 board meeting.
Please feel free to contact me at 262-889-4384 if you have questions.
